Can I Include The Social Security And Medicare Tax Withheld In Foreign Tax Credit For Canada Tax Return?

I am Canadian living and have got W-2 from employer of United State. Anybody knows how claim the Income tax return in Canada for my W-2 receipts and tax withheld? Can I include social security and medicare tax withheld for Foreign Tax Acknowledgement?

Do I Put The Amount I Received In Student Loans This Year For Tuition On My Canada Tax Return?

I recieved a statement for my student loans and i was curious to know if i have to put the amount of the loan in my return tax return somewhere. This is the first year im doing my taxes and i cant figure this out. I know if you start paying interest you have to exact that.


Answer: No. Your educate will send you (or make available for you to print out in some cases) a T2202A slip that contains the tutelage you can claim on your taxes. You cannot put the value of your student loan on your taxes because for all they know you are spending half of it on beer and pretzels.

Answer: Yes. But you can't open receiving cheques until you file your T1, so the answer the CRA gave you is technically correct.

Answer: Yep, full the form first is pretty much the only answer they will give you because they are not able to tell you more. The GST credit is based upon your profits and many factors go into that so for them to say anything more is misleading.
