If a tax assessment value on one harshly on the street is lower than the rest of the homes, does that mean there is something wrong with it?
Answer: The value is steady by taking the average for the homes that were sold in that district. There is nothing wrong if it is lower - the counties are often notoriously old-fogyish in keeping up with the market. Sometimes it can be years before the home values are reassessed in a district.

We have some real estate behind my home (60 to 70 acres of land). A business purchased the soil in 2008 but our county appraisal district only shows the company as owning 31 acres; how do I found out who owns the other acreage? Answer: I'd be amazed if the assets tax office didn't show who owned it. They collect taxes so they know who owns it.

The possessor is offering my $50,000, but the County Appraisal District has it listed at $36,000.
He told me that the tax appraisal is typically much lower than the actual value of the people's home. Is he trying to trick me into buying at the higher price?
