I twig I don't have to pay federal tax, but I am wondering about Social Security and Medicare. Do I have to pay those taxes. As I mentioned, my disability protection is paid "after tax" and covers 60% of my salary.

My tax class is about 35%. I just found that I am eligible for the Canadian Disability amount of $7,021 for the past 3 years. Someone has right-minded told me that my tax refund is based on the lowest tax bracket or rate of about 17%, NOT the 35% disputable tax rate that I have been in. Is he correct?

I accept a monthly individual disability benefit that is "tax-free", because I paid the premiums with after-tax dollars. Does this meek income contribute to my AGI? I am concerned, because I want to deduct medical expenses and I aid with the lowest AGI possible, for the 7.5% threshhold?
