What Is The USA Liability For Inheritance Tax For A Person Who Is A U S Citizen, But Does Not Pay US Tax?

My strife was born in and is resident in the UK, but she is also a US citizen. She does not and has never paid any US tax. She has paid UK tax for the last 30 years. Her framer died recently and his estate is being split between 3 siblings. What does she have to do regarding her inheritance, as she can't

Answer: I assumption that when you say she doesn't pay any US tax it's because she has no income...US citizens with more than $3400 income have a filing requirement.

As for inheritance tax, she will owe whatever the UK charges her as she is a denizen there.

When Do You Have To Pay Inheritance Tax ?

My uncle let me some in that was in a cd. It was POD (pay on death) will I have to pay inheritance tax on POD inheritance?

Answer: There are no Federal inheritance taxes. Do NOT statement the inheritance on your Federal tax return.

Any interest that the CD earns AFTER his death is taxable income to you but the principal amount is not taxable. If there are any Mansion taxes, those would be paid by the estate.
