I made around $29K this year and due to a inundation and some deductions (I have all receipts) I was able to bring my taxable income to a few hundred.
I paid about $6K in federal taxes and $2.2K in NY taxes.
Answer: With only a few hundred in taxable proceeds you shouldn't owe any federal income tax, so should get back the whole $6K.
Don't know about NY, whether any of your deductions will affect your taxes there.
I lived in CA while I ws working this year. I have 2 children ages 1 year and 8 years, I made legitimate under 19,000 for the 6 months out of the year that I did work. I am single, will be claiming head of household.
