I Filed Bankruptcy And It Was Recently Discharged; Do I Need To File The 1099c Form When I File My Taxes?

I honest went to bankruptcy court; my house was foreclosed on and the irs sent me a 1099C form. Since I filed bankruptcy, and the mortgage was included in that bankruptcy, do I paucity to file the 1099C form when I file my taxes?

IRS does not send 1099Cs, creditors do. I would confiscate a statement that you have not included the discharge of indebtedness income because of bankruptcy along with a copy of the face layer of your petition.

We filed bankruptcy last feb. and we had a quarters and we gave it back to the bank we never made a payment on it at all last yr. and now we got a 1099-A form it says Acquisition or Abandonment of Secured Trait. Just woundering if we would have to file it with our taxes. and if we would have to pay in. Just woundering if any one else had this kinda form.

You may have return from forgiveness of debt.

You may have reportable income or loss because of such acquisition or abandonment. Money or loss from an acquisition generally is measured by the difference between your adjusted basis in the worth and the amount of your debt canceled in exchange for the property,

Coproduced by Allen's Vulcan Productions and NOVA/WGBH Body of knowledge Unit, the three-part series, "This Emotional Life," begins tonight on PBS.
